Indigenous pre-convocation celebration in Cornwall
Indigenous Services was thrilled to host our pre-convocation celebration to honour the remarkable 2025 graduates from the Iohahi:io and Cornwall campuses.  As MC, Shannon Hall, Educational Developer & Curriculum Consultant of Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being, opened the night with a shortened version of the Ohenten Kariwatekwen, meaning “the words that are spoken before all others,” also known as the Thanksgiving Address. This traditional greeting acknowledges and thanks all elements of Creation and serves as a daily reminder to live in harmony with all living things.  
SLC professor recognized by national organization
Carla Kingston, professor and coordinator of SLC's Supply Chain Management program has been recognized for her outstanding contributions to the transportation and logistics field, receiving the Thomas J. McTague Memorial Award for "Academic Excellence" from the Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transport (CITT) on Friday, June 6, 2025. 
2SLGBTQ+ SLC students share positive experiences, urge further learning
Angel, Angie, and Wisteria (pseudonym) are students on SLC’s Kingston campus. They are active in the 2SLGBTQ+ community here, participating in the Queer THRIVE Huddle and volunteering for the Pride Committee. The students also attend drag shows, the Pride parade, and other events in the Kingston area.
THRIVE Huddles Provide Safe Spaces for Students
Strong social networks are an important part of a healthy life and for students, it can be crucial to connect with peers and build meaningful friendships. Enter SLC’s THRIVE community, offering students a safe place to learn and grow authentically without judgement. THRIVE consists of one-on-one support, community events, student leadership, and Huddles.
SLC Student Designed Pride T-Shirt to Highlight 2SLGBTQ+ Students
Each year, the Pride Committee holds a contest to choose the t-shirt design for SLC community members to wear at the Pride parades in Cornwall, Brockville, and Kingston. Members of the Pride Committee vote on their favourite design.
