SLC officially unveiled two innovative flexible learning classrooms on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 in Cornwall and in Kingston, marking a major step forward in creating more accessible and collaborative learning spaces.
The simultaneous event showcased the powerful technology built into the rooms. As part of the demonstration, JJ Bosica from the School for Contemporary Teaching and Learning demonstrated the seamless experience these classrooms offer: cameras automatically track instructors as they move, while built‑in microphones capture clear audio without the need for lapel mics. Students attending in person, online, or from the other campus can engage equally and effortlessly.
Designed with flexibility and accessibility in mind, each classroom features moveable desks, abundant whiteboard space, and high‑quality audio and video systems. The spaces also align with AODA standards, reducing physical and participation barriers for students and faculty.
A standout advantage of the new classrooms is their ability to connect Cornwall and Kingston in real time, enabling a single class to be taught across both campuses. This capability supports future shared programming and enhances opportunities for cross‑campus collaboration.
The flexible-learning classrooms will be available for scheduling beginning in fall 2026 and are ideal for hyflex, hybrid, online, or cross-campus delivery models.
