Celebrating Asian Heritage Month
May was Asian Heritage Month and SLC’s EDI + Belonging Task Force and HR&OD hosted two events to raise awareness of the diverse and rich cultural heritage and significant contributions the Asian community makes to Canada.
Learning Connections Conference 2021 Wrap-up
We had an amazing turnout for our 12th Learning Connections Conference last week as we reached a new milestone by welcoming 568 registered attendees (compared to 487 in 2019). The LCC featured 74 sessions including five plenary events, three keynote presentations, and 66 concurrent sessions facilitated by SLC speakers.
National Indigenous History Month
This issue of Our College News is dedicated to National Indigenous History Month, as we aim to learn more about the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. Indigenous Student Advisors Jessie Pengelly and Shirley Chaisson provide thought-provoking questions, and SLC employees share their insight and perspective on Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being and how we can each take reconciliACTION, meaningful steps to move reconciliation forward, not just during Indigenous History Month, but throughout the year.
