Student Checklist

Starting college can be an overwhelming process. This Student Checklist is one of many resources to help make your transition easier. Use the checklist as your guide to ensure you’re fully prepared to begin your journey at SLC!

SLC.me is where you will find everything from reviewing your application status, paying fees, upcoming class information, student resources, and much more. Your username and password were sent to your personal email used when you applied at OntarioColleges.ca. If you have issues logging in, please email slc.me@sl.on.ca.

Important information:

  • Log-in will be available once you apply and pay (will be sent via email).
  • SLC Student Email, Blackboard and UR SLC will be available closer to the start of your classes and you will receive this via email.
  • Timetables will be available closer to the start of classes  
  • International students: Timetables for international students will be available closer to the start of classes and will be released once your mandatory forms are submitted using the iCent App.  

Domestic students

Congratulations! Don’t forget to confirm your offer from SLC at OntarioColleges.ca and complete any outstanding conditions. Take the next steps to complete your application.

  • A deposit of $500 is required to confirm your spot in your program

International Students

    Domestic students

    • Domestic students will need to follow these steps if you require a Verification of Enrollment for an RESP: 

      1. If you're receiving funds from an RESP or other education savings fund, you can generate a verification of enrolment letter through your slc.me account 
      2. Select the orange "My Hub" button, then "My Academics" and finally "Request enrolment verification". Choose the desired term and click "Create Letter".* 

    International Students

    • International students will not require a verification of enrollment in most circumstances.  

    For Domestic students coming to SLC from inside Ontario: 

    • The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) is a mix of grants and loans to help you pay for college 
    • Through one OSAP application, you have access to different financial aid programs 
    • Apply or check your status at osap.gov.on.ca 
    • Visit the FAQs for more information 

     

    For any Domestic student: 

    • A bursary or scholarship can make a difference in helping you pay for college 
    • They range between $500 to $3,000 
    • Fill out one application to apply for all SLC bursaries and scholarships 
    • More than 500 bursaries were provided to students across our three campuses last year 
    • Learn more about the bursary and scholarships program 

    Prepare for classes

    Your individual program requirements will be confirmed shortly, but we recommend people have a computer and wifi access for their courses. Materials and your student learning platform are not optimized for mobile devices and can require significant amounts of bandwidth to access.

    Download Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office, personal laptop, mobile device, log-in information for slc.me  

    If you are unable to access slc.me or your slc student email, please contact its@sl.on.ca  

    UR SLC connects you to Orientation, campus events, clubs, campus resources, and much more throughout your college career. Download from the App Store / Google Play or Login Here on your computer. Sign in with your SLC.me username and password. Note: Students will not have access to UR SLC until AFTER the deposit is paid.

    Booklists

    Once released, booklists and timetables are located on your slc.me account (academics>Booklists & Materials).

    Timetables

    Timetables are usually available in mid-August 
     
    Log in to slc.me -> Timetable button  

    If you click 'Timetable' on SLC.me it will say ‘not registered in classes’. Don't Worry! 

    Be sure you have paid your deposit (New AND/OR Returning Students) and your schedule will be available as soon as possible. 

    • Your student card is your college identification while on campus and is required to access certain services. 
    • Click here for more details about the student card process.  
    • No student cards will be generated on campus or in person and must be received by mail. 

    Please note:

    International students only need to request a student card if they are planning to travel to Canada to attend in-person classes at one of our campuses.  

    Please wait to submit your student card order until you have arrived in Canada and are currently living in your Canadian address.  

    Fall 2021

    September 8th, 2021 is the first day of classes for most programs (returning and new students). 

    Please visit the campus information page for important information on student supports, services, resources, program delivery, and safety requirements. 

    If you are planning to travel to Canada you MUST fill-out the Mandatory Forms within the iCent app and you MUST attend at least one of our Mandatory Pre-Departure Sessions.
