Student fundraiser raises more than $3000 for service dogs

St. Lawrence College Veterinary Assistant students showed their commitment to the community by recently raising money to support the Kingston 4 Paws Academy. Fifty students from the veterinary assistant program worked with local businesses and their fellow students raising over $3000. The students feel a lot of passion for this organization and the work they do.

Kingston 4 Paws Academy® is a non-profit Service Dog Training School in Kingston. They provide fully trained service dogs to families in need. These dogs can bring independence and freedom to individuals whose lives are impacted by various disabilities like autism, epilepsy, PTSD and mobility issues. All of the funds raised from this event will go directly into the service dog program at Kingston 4 Paws Academy®. This fundraiser will help their wait list families obtain a service dog.

The fundraising activity is part of the Marketing and Communication course of the Veterinary Assistant Program. Since January, students have been approaching local businesses for donations and worked on a number of other projects. The students worked hard to promote the work of the Kingston 4 Paws Academy.
