BROCKVILLE - St. Lawrence College Visual and Creative Arts - Fine Arts 2014 graduates are pleased to present their graduation exhibition Raison d'être (reason for being). The exhibition will be on display at the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery, located on the Brockville campus of St. Lawrence College from April 17 through May 29. A vernissage (show opening) is scheduled for April 17 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

This unique exhibit will showcase the art of ten artists: Shantel Bell, Ashley Cummings, Linda Dubeau, Dayne Henry, Greg Jeffreys, Kityan Lau, Kristen Lee, Laura Lee, Fraser Radford and Jack Wilson in a state-of-the-art facility. This show gives the students hands on experience developing, hanging, and promoting their work. The exhibition displays work in a variety of mediums. Visitors can expect to see works in watercolour, pen and ink, acrylics, oils, mixed media, and much more.

Andrew Hamilton, program coordinator and professor of the Visual and Creative Arts – Fine Arts diploma program says, “This year’s graduating fine artists are some of the strongest we have seen in the recent past. With our new revamped art program, including the addition of illustration and sculpture classes, the students will have the opportunity to show and present these new art forms to the public. These talented individuals will also be showing their fine arts in drawing, painting, photography and many other art forms which will be an inspiration for all.”

Shantel Bell, one of the graduating artists, states: “Raison d'être is a culmination of everyone’s hard work and dedication over the past two years, and although it is the end of our time as students at St. Lawrence College, it is also the beginning of an exciting new journey for all of us graduating from the Fine Arts program. Please come and join us and see our reason for being!”
