St. Lawrence College Board of Governors approves balanced budget


St. Lawrence College will continue to invest in its main priorities of student success, academic excellence and leadership in our communities while maintaining a balanced budget in the 2013/014 fiscal year. The St. Lawrence College Board of Governors approved a $101.5 million budget at their March meeting.

The 2013/2014 budget will see investments in programs, facilities and human resources, including newly created academic and support staff positions. The College has experienced steady enrolment growth on all three campuses and has introduced several new programs, including Geothermal Engineering Technician, Interactive Marketing Communications, Communicative Disorders Assistant and Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Additionally, the Brockville campus saw the revitalization of a Business program.

Capital spending will include infrastructure renewal, redesigned classrooms and lab spaces, expansion of student study spaces, IT renewal infrastructure and multimedia classrooms.

“As we look to the future and our strategic priorities, this budget will focus on making the right key investments in our people and infrastructure so we can continue to deliver the very best in academics and services for our students,” said Glenn Vollebregt, President and CEO of St. Lawrence College.”

St. Lawrence College continues to earn straight A’s in all Key Performance Indicators (2012):

-     87.9 per cent of our graduates found work within six months of graduation. Well ahead of the provincial rate of 83 per cent.

-     81.3 per cent of our graduates were satisfied with the usefulness of their college education in achieving their goals after graduation

-     95.5 per cent of employers were satisfied with the quality of educational preparation of our graduates.
