SLC students take part in major arts event in Kingston

Students from our Graphic Design and Music and Digital Media programs will be featured as part of artignite, an annual city-wide arts event in Kingston from January 25 to February 10.

The concert and exhibition will be held on Sunday, January 27 at the Renaissance Event Venue, 285 Queen Street (at Barrie Street) from 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm. The concert will involve students playing in all genres of music in small ensembles, solo performances, and bands and includes multimedia screenings of works compiled by the music students in their media courses. In addition to the concert, there will be a mounted exhibition of graphic design projects created by students in the Graphic Design program. Admission is free.

“We’re really excited to be included in this great artistic community event,” said Erin Boyce, program coordinator for the Graphic Design program. “It’s an honour for us to be included in this special arts event in the city.”

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their talent and work,” said Adrienne Shannon, program coordinator for the Music and Digital Media program.

artignite is a collaboration between Queen’s University, the City of Kingston, Downtown Kingston, St. Lawrence College and many Kingston arts groups and artists. In its four years, artignite has brought students and the Kingston community together through artistic collaboration and creative expression, showcasing local talent and celebrating diversity of art form, audience and artists. Over 35 different arts organizations have participated in artignite so far.
