Interim President & CEO of St. Lawrence College Announced


The Board of Governors of St. Lawrence College is pleased to announce that effective July 1st, 2012, Gordon MacDougall will serve as Interim President and CEO until a new President and CEO is selected.

Gordon MacDougall is presently the Senior Vice President of Advancement, Student & External Affairs at St. Lawrence College. A member of the senior executive team, Gordon has primary responsibility for a broad portfolio of operations including Marketing & Communications, Recruitment & International Education, the Office of the Registrar, Applied & Institutional Research, Strategic Enrolment Management, Student Services, Alumni & Development, External Affairs and Business Development. Prior to this most recent appointment, Gordon’s background included a variety of senior management roles, including Chief Information Officer (CIO) for more than 12 years, Vice President of Education & Information Technologies, and Vice President for Business Development & Technologies.

A graduate of St. Lawrence College – Brockville campus, Gordon continued his studies at the University of Western Ontario. His career at St. Lawrence College began as a faculty member in the School of Nursing 23 years ago. He has extensive experience in planning, process re-engineering, and project management, and has led a number of institutional strategic and business planning initiatives.

A strong community supporter, Gordon is involved in regional economic development and serves as Co-Vice Chair of the Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO), where he has served as a Director since 2007. He is also the past Chair of the Kingston Technology Council and serves on a number of provincial college system committees and working groups. He also participates as a faculty member with the Association of Canadian Community Colleges Leadership Development Institute.

Appointed as a Kingston General Hospital Governor in 2005, he now serves as a Director on the Board, as well as on a number of committees of the hospital. Gordon also serves on the Aultsville Theatre Management Board at the Cornwall Campus.

Paul is also the Chief Administrative Officer for the Corporation of the City of Cornwall. “Gordon’s extensive experience at the college, and leadership in the community, will ensure that the college continues to serve its mission to meet the learning needs of students and our community.”

At the St Lawrence College Board of Governors Executive Committee meeting of May 1st, 2012, the Board Chair approved that a Request for Proposal be issued to retain an executive search firm to assist in the recruitment and selection process for the position of President and Chief Executive Officer.
