Students explore technology and business at Young Women Innovators Conference


KINGSTON, ON – Business, technology, and innovation are brought together for female students in grades 7 and 8 in an exciting and interactive conference at St Lawrence College’s Kingston campus on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.

This partnership between the Limestone District School Board (LDSB), Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB), and St. Lawrence College brings together 100 female students from surrounding schools to participate in the second annual Young Women Innovators Conference, highlighting the many possibilities available in pursuing post-secondary career goals relevant to the technology and business sectors.

The conference is hosted by School/College/Work Initiative/PASS program. The Young Women Innovators Conference welcomes two keynote speakers: Savanah Sewell, marketing coordinator and online entertainment host, and Jennifer Baran, Dual Credit high school student and plumbing apprentice. The conference also includes breakout sessions developed and facilitated by the Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) group from St. Lawrence College’s School of Business.

Throughout the day-long conference, students will participate in interactive sessions that combine both innovation and business challenges, as well as touring the Limestone Skills Competition, which also takes place at St. Lawrence College on Wednesday, April 4.
