Back to Business at St. Lawrence College

St. Lawrence College announced last week that the Brockville campus will offer a two-year Business program once again after it was suspended a number of years ago.

Brockville campus dean Doug Roughton made the announcement to leaders in the Brockville business community on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Brockville Chamber of Commerce’s "Business After 5" event, which was hosted by St. Lawrence College at the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery.

"You – the business leaders – told us that we needed a business program. You told us that you needed skilled and knowledgeable graduates to run your businesses. We listened," said Roughton as he addressed members of the Brockville Chamber of Commerce.

The Business program is ideal for students seeking a comprehensive business education and the opportunity to study in more than one area of specialization. Students acquire knowledge and practical skill in several key business areas such as accounting, marketing, and human resources, preparing them to succeed in a variety of career paths.

Through the generosity of the St. Lawrence College Foundation, five "Brockville Back in Business" bursaries valued at $1000 each are available for full-time students enrolled in the Business program on the Brockville campus who are residents of Ontario and demonstrate financial need.

There are still spots available for September enrolment; individuals interested in the Business program are encouraged to apply.

The Business program is the first step in a unique opportunity for students to complete two diplomas and one degree in just five years. Successful completion of the two-year Business program results in an Ontario College Diploma and direct admission into the third year of the Business Administration program on the Cornwall campus. Upon successful completion of the Business Administration program, students are eligible to enter the third year of the Bachelor of Business Administration program on the Kingston campus.
