SLC Music Theatre presents perfect show for the holidays

The St. Lawrence College Music Theatre Program has the perfect gift for the holidays! Little Women, the musical, is coming to the newly renovated Brockville Arts Centre with performances on December 3, 4 & 5 at 8 pm, and a special matinee performance on Sunday, December 6 at 2 pm.

Based on the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott, Little Women follows the adventures of Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy March as they grow up in Civil War America. The beloved, timeless story of the March sisters deals with issues as relevant today as when it was written. Now the story has been brought to life by the wonderful set designs by Brian Frommer, musical direction by Christopher Coyea and direction by Michael Bianchin. New to the program is Choreographer Janet Venn Jackson.

Based on Alcott’s own family experiences, the production involves second and third year students in the Music Theatre Performance program. It is a complete theatrical experience filled with laughter, dance and a spirit that will lift the hearts of all for the Christmas season. The New York Sun called it "a Broadway Musical for the whole family," and TIME Magazine describes it as "skillfully adapted…unpretentious and warmhearted."

"Little Women promises to be our most beautiful and glorious production to date," said Michael Bianchin, director, and coordinator of the Music Theatre program. "It just has so much feeling and emotion in every song and also features two numbers that will delight the children in the audience and the ‘child’ in each of us."
