St. Lawrence College Adopts the Okanagan Charter to Guide Commitment to Wellbeing
SLC has formally adopted the Okanagan Charter: An International Charter for Health Promoting Universities and Colleges. In doing so, SLC intends to further embody our values through programs, improvements, and education that will directly and positively impact the health and wellbeing of our students, our people, and our shared communities.
Connecting Health Care Administration Students with Local Employers
The first annual Health Care Administration (HCA) Career Networking Fair for HCA students was held in May, a result of collaboration between HCA Program Coordinators, SLC Career Services, and KEYS Kingston. The event featured a Keynote speaker session with Dr. Tarek Hussein.
Sexual Violence Prevention Month 2023
May is Sexual Violence Prevention Month in Ontario. This month is an opportunity to raise awareness about the devastating impact of this crime, to better understand its deep cultural and historical roots, to support victims and survivors, and to work together to stop the violence.
Honours Bachelor of Behavioural Psychology Students Present Thesis Posters
With the 2022-2023 academic year ending, fourth-year students from the Honours Bachelor of Behavioural Psychology degree program (BPSYC) gathered to present their thesis posters in the upper concourse of the College. The theses presented varied greatly in topics, specific fields, and overall projects. Some students completed research for their thesis, while others created manuals or workshops to implement at their designated placement agencies.
Reflecting on the Indigenous Community of Practice
Over the past several months, an Indigenous Community of Practice (ICoP) was formed to support indigenization and decolonization of SLC curriculum. A small but committed group of faculty began this journey, together with School of Contemporary Teaching and Learning Education Developer, Shannon Hall and Knowledge Keeper at SLC, Helena Neveu.
