POSITION SUMMARY

The Administrative Support – Indigenous position works in collaboration with the Indigenous Student Advisor to foster a welcoming and culturally respectful environment for Indigenous students. This role supports the overall mission of the Waasaabiidaasamose (Whah-sah Bid–eh–so–may) Indigenous Centre by encouraging student engagement, building connections within the college community, and promoting academic success. The incumbent contributes to initiatives that strengthen cultural awareness and inclusion on campus while ensuring the Centre remains a place where students feel supported, valued, and empowered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attending to needs of Indigenous students
  • Attending Indigenous events
  • Organizing campus events
  • Maintaining the Waasaabiidaasamose (Whah-sah Bid–eh–so–may) Indigenous Centre as a welcoming place for students
  • Managing resources available in the Waasaabiidaasamose Indigenous Centre
  • On occasion may be asked to perform other duties as assigned, such as special functions (i.e., orientation, open house, awards dinners, etc.)

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Other Required Qualifications:

  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Time management, strong organizational skills, and an attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively work independently with instruction, or collaboratively as part of a team.
  • General knowledge of standard computer applications (MS word, Excel, Teams, & Email).
  • High degree of integrity for maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Knowledge of Traditional Native culture, arts and/or history
  • Community connections with Indigenous organizations an asset

Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements: 

The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location.

Salary & Terms

  • Start Rate: $17.60/hour, (plus 6% in lieu of vacation)
  • Hours per week: 12.00

Terms of Employment:

  • Must be returning to Full-Time studies in the Fall 2025 semester.
  • Must be in good academic standing for full duration of employment.

THIS IS A TERM BARGAINING UNIT POSITION 

This competition will be processed in accordance with College policy and the  PT Support Staff Collective Agreement (in cases where employees are working fewer than 24 hours in a week) or the FT Support Staff Collective Agreement (in cases where employees are working 24 or more hours in a week). In addition to comparing candidates’ qualifications and experience to the listed technical skills, education, work experience, and personal characteristics (values, attitudes, motivation, and performance), service time with the College will also be considered. If the search extends beyond the Bargaining Unit, consideration will be given to accumulated service with the College.
