Job Title: Student Research Assistant - Nursing

POSITION SUMMARY
The incumbent reports to the Research Project Co-Leads and, under the guidance of the designate, works up to 5 hours per week (may include evenings and/or weekends), providing assistance in executing a mixed methods research project to develop and refine an integrated model that fosters collaboration between long-term care (LTC) homes and post-secondary nursing programs, while enhancing nursing student placement experiences to inspire interest in careers in the LTC sector and to design and implement an innovative social media campaign aimed at positively influencing the perception of LTC as a rewarding career choice for nursing students/new graduate nurses. The incumbent will have opportunities to learn research-related skills as part of the position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with a variety of research-related activities, including:
o Assist with literature review
o Assist with ethics application
o Assist with data collection, e.g. conduct surveys, focus groups, and interviews with nursing students and representatives from LTC homes.
o Assist with data analysis, e.g. using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis methods
o Assist with writing reports.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the designate, with occasional duties specific to special functions (e.g., in-person community partner meetings).
- Collaborate with faculty, students, and LTC partners involved in the research project.
- Attend and present at conferences.
- Performs other miscellaneous, related duties as assigned and agreed upon.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical research standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the designate, with occasional duties specific to special functions (e.g., in-person community partner meetings).

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

Enrolled and in good standing in a BScN or PN program.
Other Required Qualifications:
- Strong interest in research and long-term care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Time management and attention to detail.
- Adaptable with the ability to problem solve.
- Ability to effectively work independently with instruction and collaboratively with a team.
- Understanding of standard computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Teams, & Email).
- Basic knowledge of research methods and academic writing.
Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements:
The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location.
Salary & Terms
- Start Rate: $17.60/hour to $27.08/hour (plus 6% in lieu of vacation)

Terms of Employment:
- Must be currently enrolled in Full-Time studies at St. Lawrence College OR returning to Full-Time studies in the immediate upcoming semester.
