Overview
This program will provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge using simulated case studies to meet the needs of the medical community for skilled medical transcriptionists.
Graduates of this program will have obtained the knowledge and skills required to compete for entry level positions in hospitals, medical clinics, physician’s offices and online transcription companies.
To enhance student success, we recommend the prerequisites even for those in the health care field. What we have found is that students currently working in health care use the skills, knowledge and terminology that is inherent to their specific field, are not prepared for other specialties and struggle through the course. For example, the person working in cardiology for the last several years may have lost much of the knowledge related to obstetrics, orthopedics, nephrology, etc.
To successfully complete this program, participants must complete eight (8) compulsory courses and two (2) electives.
