Writing tutoring is available to all students wishing to improve their writing skills and writing resources may be obtained for free from the ASC on all three campuses. Support is typically offered as one-on-one, structured tutor-tutee sessions, and students are expected to bring their assignments with them so tutors can see students' current writing ability and offer student-specific writing assistance. Consult the campus specific information below for information regarding the current availability of our services. While seeking assistance on any campus, take note of the following rules and guidelines to ensure the appointment is valuable and rewarding for all participants.

Preparing for an Appointment

  1. Tutors do not provide an editing/proofreading service. Tutors work with students on their assignments to help identify issues and encourage students to develop their writing skills.
  2. This service is available for students currently enrolled in a course at St. Lawrence College and offers assistance with written assignments. ASC tutors cannot offer assistance with non-written assignments (i.e. improving English oral skills), comment on course content/evaluation, or teach lessons regarding English writing.
  3. Students must bring a hard copy of their written work to their appointments.

Book an Appointment - Writing Support

Students wanting to see a writing tutor in Brockville, Cornwall, or Kingston must book an appointment online; this can be done through the Student Bookings page accessed through the link below or through the SLC App. Students may book either a half hour or a full hour session, and students are permitted up to one hour per day and up to two hours per week of tutoring time.
