With his debut documentary, Spray the Change, emerging filmmaker and St. Lawrence College student Juan Velasco focuses on Kingston's art scene, telling the powerful story of local artist Hill Werth. The project began as a chance encounter on Kingston's nighttime streets and evolved into a compelling story about art, advocacy, and community change.  Juan's documentary filmmaking journey started with his acceptance into Kingston Canadian Film Festival's DOC Factory program with a portfolio featuring work he created while studying in SLC’s Music and Digital Media program.  

Finding safe and affordable housing is one of the most pressing challenges international students face when transitioning to life in a new country. For many, navigating this process can feel overwhelming. One international student recently shared how two key resources proved invaluable in making his housing journey much smoother. 

February is Black History and Futures Month in Canada - join us this month as we celebrate Black identities, achievements, and communities, and share in the journey of continued learning. Black History and Futures Month is a time to not only reflect and continue our learning as it relates to Black history in Canada and around the world, it is also a time to engage with the excellence, entrepreneurism, and cultural impact of Black folks in the world.  

On January 16, Aidan Wornes and I were pleased to attend as Iohahi:io Akwesasne Education & Training Institute marked another milestone with the grand opening of Kaheri:io (pronounced "Gahalee-yeeyo") a state-of-the-art trades training facility that significantly expands their educational capabilities. 

The St. Lawrence Experience Record (SER) made a significant debut last semester, and we're excited to continue celebrating student engagement and achievement across our campus communities! SER provides students with a formal record of their out-of-classroom involvement, offering recognition in five key areas: Experiences, Badges, Volunteer Hours, Club Memberships, and Learning Pathways.
