POSITION SUMMARY

The Belonging, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (BEDI) Assistant role supports the implementation and coordination of initiatives that promote belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion, across the college. The BEDI Assistant will work closely with the BEDI team and various committees to foster a more inclusive learning environment for students and workplace culture for employees. The BEDI Assistant will be part of BEDI lead committees, such as Global Learning Opportunities Week, Black History and Futures Month, and International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and execution of EDI-related programs, workshops, training sessions, and events
  • Gather data and information on emerging trends in equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Gather relevant resources and information for various holidays and observances to be used for communications
  • Assist with creating, maintaining and updating EDI-related resources, content, and internal communications
  • Help collect and organize data from EDI related events and training
  • Foster relationships with community partners, vendors, and consultants to support EDI goals

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Other Required Qualifications:

  • A demonstrated interest in equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with virtual collaboration tools
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a diverse and dynamic environment

Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements: 

The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location and work temporarily from a remote location with reliable internet access, as approved by the College and in accordance with the college’s Telework Policy.

Salary & Terms

  • Start Rate: $17.60/hour, (plus 6% in lieu of vacation)
  • Hours per week: 12.00

Terms of Employment:

  • Must be currently enrolled in Full-Time studies at St. Lawrence College OR returning to Full-Time studies in the immediate upcoming semester.
  • Must be in good academic standing for full duration of employment.
