POSITION SUMMARY

The Student Wellness & Accessibility Student Assistant on Kingston Campus reports to the Associate Director, and under the guidance of the Administrative Coordinator as designate, will work up to 12-hours per week for no more than 13 weeks. The position assists the department with front-line administrative and logistical tasks. This position may also support tasks and projects at the Kingston Campus Health Centre. This position will also provide event support, including planning, preparation, and participation. This is a visible front-line position which requires a positive and helpful attitude to meet the goal of providing students with the best possible college experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists with administrative-related and logistic tasks, including updating or entering data into specific systems, scheduling, programming, and preparing reports when required.
  • Maintenance and improvement of social media platforms and webpages.
  • Support managing events, booking venues and ordering marketing materials.
  • Supports basic maintenance of Student Wellness & Accessibility spaces, as well as for special events (clean-up/disposal of supplies).
  • Provides support for the facilitation of student engagement programming and events on campus.
  • Actively participate and staff committees as necessary and appropriate.
  • Assist in dealing with occasional disrespectful users through escalating conflict to department manager / designate.
  • Performs other miscellaneous, related duties as assigned by the designate, with occasional duties specific to special functions (e.g., orientation or open house events, awards dinners).

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Other Required Qualifications:

  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Time management, strong organizational skills, and an attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively work independently with instruction, or collaboratively as part of a team.
  • General knowledge of standard computer applications (MS word, Excel, Teams, & Email).
  • High degree of integrity for maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements: 

The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location.

Salary & Terms

  • Start Rate: $17.60/hour, (plus 6% in lieu of vacation)
  • Hours per week: 12.00

Terms of Employment:

  • Must be currently enrolled in Full-Time studies at St. Lawrence College OR returning to Full-Time studies in the immediate upcoming semester.
  • Must be in good academic standing for full duration of employment.
