POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Department Manager and under the guidance of a designated supervisor, the Career Services Student Assistant will work up to 12 hours per week. This position involves greeting and guiding students, performing administrative tasks, and supporting the operations of the department. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable work experience while enhancing the services provided by Career Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the logistical delivery of virtual events, such as job fairs, workshops, and information sessions, including arranging virtual invitations and tracking participant registration data.
- Communicate with job-seeking students, providing an overview of our job board and other tools, and guide them through the application process.
- Maintain social media and other advertising channels by coordinating key information for social media posts and advertisements.
- Review student resumes and cover letters, analyzing key components, and suggesting improvements to content and presentation.
- Respond to general inquiries via email.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the activities of Career Services.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Other Required Qualifications:
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Experience with social media management is an asset.
- Administrative skills and attention to detail.
- Adept with Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, Canva, and Adobe Express.
- Proficient in managing social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram
Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements:
The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location.
Salary & Terms
- Start Rate: $17.60/hour, (plus 6% in lieu of vacation)
- Hours per week: Up to 12.00

Terms of Employment:
- Must be currently enrolled in Full-Time studies at St. Lawrence College OR returning to Full-Time studies in the immediate upcoming semester.
- Must be in good academic standing for full duration of employment.
