Advertising and Marketing Communications Management

I always knew college would be a huge part of my life, but little did I know how much of an impact it would have on me. It has unexpectedly shaped my life. I've gained knowledge and hands-on experience but more importantly, my best friends and my community. The ongoing encouragement and support at SLC has shown me how capable I am. Being a part of AMC specifically has been eye-opening; it's given me the perspective that there is a place for me in business and that creativity, passion and the type of person you are can take you far. I'm proud to say I’m graduating with a new community and a "next chapter" that is already in motion. That is the impact that college has. I’m endlessly grateful for my time at SLC and for the many wonderful people who have believed in me and made my time here unforgettable.

Early Childhood Education

Coming to Canada from the Philippines, I didn't expect how much SLC would shape who I am today. Through my experiences as member of the Student Association Board of Directors, a student governor, and a participant in the pioneering SLC MasterClass program, I found my voice and a sense of purpose. There were times when balancing everything felt overwhelming, but the patience, support, and encouragement from my amazing professors made all the difference. This recognition truly reflects not just my journey, but also the people who believed in me all along the way.

Personal Support Worker

Starting a new career after so many years in a different field wasn’t easy, but SLC made the transition feel possible. The faculty supported me every step of the way, encouraging me, challenging me, and helping me grow into a confident and capable PSW. What I cherish most from my time at SLC are the relationships and experiences that shaped me. I met instructors who believed in me, classmates who inspired me, and clients who reminded me why this work matters. Every shift, every lesson, and every moment of connection reinforced that I made the right choice. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I look forward to using the knowledge and skills I’ve gained to make a positive difference in the lives of the people I serve.

Business Administration - Accounting

Born and raised in Cornwall, I'm a graduate of the Business Administration-Accounting program. I’m lucky to have had a quality and affordable education right in my backyard. SLC is where I rekindled my passion for learning and met many inspirational people who motivated me to do my best as a student, employee, and person. Knowledgeable professors and encouraging peers have driven me every step of the way. I got involved and contributed on campus, first finding a home in the Innovation Hub and another in the Cornwall Student Union, where I was privileged to serve as president and advocate for my fellow students. You reap what you sow at SLC, and I’m grateful for the relationships and memories.

Mental Wellness and Addictions Worker
My time at SLC has been transformative. Coming from my home reserve, far from everything familiar, I found not only invaluable knowledge through the Mental Wellness and Addiction Worker program, but also a supportive community that became like family. One Ojibwe teaching that continues to guide me is, “Aabji’itoon enkiezien enso giizhgad” — “use what you know every day” — and I continue to carry those teachings with me in both my everyday life and future journey.
Being part of the Student Administrative Council made my experience even more meaningful, as it gave me the opportunity to be part of something bigger than myself and contribute to the student community. I am deeply grateful for the friendships, support, and experiences that helped me grow both personally and professionally. SLC has given me the confidence, purpose, and motivation to move forward and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing
People often ask, “Why nursing?” usually followed by something like, “Why would you do that to yourself?” But for me, nursing has been one of the greatest gifts in my life. My time at St. Lawrence College taught me far more than clinical skills. It taught me compassion, resilience, and the importance of supporting others. I’m leaving with lifelong friendships, incredible mentors, and apparently as a real grown-up now too… though I’m still adjusting to that title.
