Check My English Level

What is my English level?

SLC English program accepts students from the pre-intermediate level which means you need to have some knowledge of English up until the advanced level which will provide you the academic and language proficiency you may need to enter one of our academic programs. When you apply to the program, you can submit the Standardized Test result for placement purposes. If you have not taken a standardized test, we will provide the Duolingo test as your official placement test.

IEOP, IEOC and POET Placement: Standardized Test

If you have taken a standardized test such as IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC or Duolingo, we will place you into the appropriate level for the online, on campus, and tutoring programs.

The table below shows the entrance score for each level.

Alternately, students will be required to purchase the Private Online English Tutoring (POET) as a supplement if they want to attend the level based on the overall score.  POET gives them one-on-one tutorials to target their weaker skills and enhance their overall learning.

Canadian Language Benchmark

If you have been assessed on Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB), you will be placed in the online, on campus, or tutoring program directly. If you would like to use CLB to meet the College language requirement for academic admission, you can submit a CLB 8 portfolio for assessment. View submission guidelines.
