Rowan Steele Portrait

My name is Rowan Steele. I have spent the past five years at St. Lawrence college graduating from the Advertising and Marketing Communications (AMC) program and now the Graphic Design program. Starting out my post-secondary education in the AMC program was a great start. I learned valuable skills and knowledge about the marketing world that have assisted me through graphic design and continue to aid me in my career. While in AMC I felt drawn to the more creative, artistic classes and projects, leading me to the Graphic Design program. Over the past three years, I have developed a strong interest in interactive design and print.

Typography & Print Media

Objective

The objective of this project was to design a campaign involving a website, poster, brochure, and booklet for an environmental conference.

Description

Green from the ground up is a conference based on environmental building. This project was split into two different parts. In the first part, we were tasked with creating the word cluster and main visual that would be used throughout the campaign. The visual I used is based on buildings that are built into the earth. We then developed the brochure and poster placed on the backside. The second part is a booklet with further detailed information and finally the website.

Interaction Design

Objective

The objective of this project was to design a mobile app for a museum exhibit.

Description

For my app design, I chose the Canadian National Vimy Memorial and the surrounding visitor centre, Canadian Cemeteries, and trenches in France. After visiting the memorial during the off season, I had noticed a lack of information available around the grounds. This app gives visitors accessible information on the memorial, available to them before, during, or after their visit.

Interaction Design

Objective

The objective of this project was to design a responsive e-commerce website at three breakpoints, web, tablet, and mobile.

Description

For this e-commerce website, I chose a vintage home decor store. I chose to keep the overall design similar to the feeling of the store which is very eclectic, bright, and warm. The layout is kept simple to showcase all of the unique products available.
