Designer Bio

I am a Graphic Designer in Kingston, Ontario that excels in interaction design, and layout design. I have been trained in the foundations of composition, layout, typography, colour, interactive and accessible design principles, user research, motion graphics, and the use of industry-standard software.

During my studies, I have gained a lot of real-life work experience working directly with clients throughout my final year. In-class critiques have given me a lot of practice in providing constructive and detailed feedback to classmates. This has helped both them and myself further develop and refine our designs. I always have the drive to create and am eager to build on my skills.

Interaction Design - DESI 212

Objective

The objective of this project was to apply our redesigned logo from a previous assignment to responsive e-commerce. It was a requirement to follow interaction design principles and set brand goals and logo guidelines. The final design must be attractive to the target audience.

Description

This responsive e-commerce website is for a clothing company named “Zing Athletics.” I designed it to look modern and sophisticated to suit the projected target audience; young adult females and males who are into fitness and fashion. They value strength, sophistication, enthusiasm, and positivity. I have chosen a simple colour scheme by only using black, white and yellow to give the website a clean look which allows the products to be the focus. Black is used to representing strength, and sophistication. Yellow is meant to provoke feelings of enthusiasm, positivity, and optimism; it is a cheerful and energetic colour that brings fun and joy to the world. It makes learning easier as it affects the logical part of the brain, stimulating mentality and perception. It inspires thought and curiosity and boosts enthusiasm and confidence. White is associated with cleanliness and provides a great contrast between the other two colours.

Objective

The purpose of this project was to select two of Aesop’s fables and design two pages in a classical book style. The way that it is presented must attract the chosen target audience.

Description

The target audience is 7 to 13 years old, so the book is mostly found in elementary schools. It is used for leisurely reading or for curriculum in English classes. The colours and illustrations are meant to keep elementary students’ attention and interest. Illustrations in the spread are kept simple to reflect the illustration style of classic books.

DESI 212 - Interaction Design

Objective

The objective of this assignment was to develop an app that will enhance visitors learning experience. The app must follow accessibility guidelines and users should be able to use the app without relying on any animations.

Description

I have created this app that identifies flowers, plants, insects, and at-risk species through its camera and provides information about what has been identified. This app enhances visitors' learning experience by providing them with access to information about everything in the garden. The information includes ways to help endangered species to teach people how to be good environmental stewards inside their own towns and cities.

This app does not rely on colour to relay important information or show where the user must interact with the screen. Buttons and text are styled and checked in an accessibility checker to ensure suitable contrast for those who are colourblind. The animations are kept to a minimum. They are only used between pages and are subtle with a 0.3 second dissolve to avoid negative user reactions. Dizziness or nausea can be experienced by some people when viewing animations that include effects such as zooming, scalicolong, spinning, or peripheral motion.

Objective

The objective of this project was to create a responsive website for a conference campaign and attract local and regional attendees to the conference who are interested or have a stake in the future of climate change and extreme weather. The responsive website required 3 breakpoints that included key details about the event, and navigation interface for more information.

Description

The Weather Report conference about Extreme Weather and Climate Change is the only conference in Eastern Ontario that offers an ethical scientific perspective on the challenges facing science, earth watchdogs, critical thinkers, and technology in regards to climate change and extreme weather in the 21st century.

I designed it to look modern and sophisticated to suit the projected target audience, scientists, policy-makers, sustainability experts, environmentalists, activists, eco- minded people who are interested in supporting a more sustainable, actionable, and enforceable initiatives regarding the future of the planet’s climate and related effects. They are mostly well-educated with at least a college diploma, and many have advanced degrees. The blue colour scheme gives the website a clean and professional look.
