mobile training lab

St. Lawrence College (SLC) is proud to participate in Level Up!, a multi-day career fair connecting students in grades 7 to 12 with opportunities in Ontario's skilled trades and will be onsite at Kington’s Slush Puppie Place on December 2, 2025. The event brings together industry organizations, post-secondary institutions, businesses, and associations to showcase more than 140 skilled trades through interactive exhibitions and hands-on activities.

As part of Level Up!, SLC's Mobile Training Labs will be there, giving students the chance to participate in interactive displays and demonstrations in a variety of in-demand skilled trades and technology programs. These mobile labs bring SLC's state-of-the-art training directly to students, helping them discover new skills and potential career paths.

"Level Up! provides an incredible opportunity for young people to explore skilled trades in an engaging, hands-on environment," said Amy Hamilton, Manager, Skills, Training, and Economic Development. "Our Mobile Training Labs allow students to experience what it's really like to work in these fields, and we're excited to help them discover careers they'll love."

At the event, students can explore several SLC programs, including:

Carpentry Techniques – Students gain practical skills in residential and commercial construction, with graduates prepared for careers as project coordinators, home inspectors, independent contractors, and more.
Electrical Engineering Technician – This program prepares students to design, fix, and maintain electrical systems, with graduates eligible to take an exit exam for immediate apprenticeship opportunities.
Welding and Fabrication Technician – Graduates enter a growing industry equipped with skills in TIG, MIG, and Stick welding, plus advanced techniques like CAD and automated plasma cutting.

Special demonstrations and activities also include DNA extraction with SLC’s Biotechnology Advanced program, and a new plumbing demonstration.
