St. Lawrence College (SLC) is thrilled to announce that alumnus Patrick Moore is the recipient of a prestigious Premier’s Award in the category of Workforce and Skilled Trades Advancement. The announcement was made on October 16 by Colleges Ontario and will be presented at a special, private event in Toronto on November 24, 2025.
Patrick, an internationally acclaimed craftsman, has dedicated his career to learning and promoting historic carpentry techniques and sharing his knowledge with the next generation of tradespeople. After receiving trade diplomas and an apprenticeship at SLC, Patrick became the first English speaker to complete the prestigious Masters in Carpentry program in France, where he learned the ancient techniques of stereotomy. With his unique knowledge and skills, he teaches internationally, has won several significant awards, is an industry-leading construction manager working on complex heritage projects in Canada, and runs his own school dedicated to teaching stereotomy.
The Premier’s Awards recognize college graduates making important social and economic contributions to Ontario and are administered by Colleges Ontario.
"On behalf of the entire SLC community, I want to congratulate Patrick on his incredible win and for his dedication to his craft," said Glenn Vollebregt, SLC President and CEO. "I would also like to congratulate all our exceptional nominees on their contributions to their communities. The strength of all our nominees speaks to how SLC prepares our graduates for the careers they love."
“I’m deeply honoured to receive the Premier’s Award. Winning this award is proof that skilled trades change lives. I’m grateful to the mentors, colleagues, and instructors at St. Lawrence College who showed me not just how to work, but why our work matters, and for providing me with the skills and confidence to build a career that serves my community,” Patrick said. “I hope this shines a light on trades as a pathway to a rewarding and fulfilling life. This award belongs to the skilled trades community and to everyone who helped me along my path.”
"Congratulations to Patrick on his win," said Elizabeth Gorman, SLC’s Director, Development and Alumni Relations. "We are proud to see him recognized for his expertise in heritage carpentry and is a great example of the rich and diverse careers SLC alumni pursue, and we are proud to share that with all of Ontario."
