Duties
The Switchboard Attendant is a front-line customer service representative for the College’s employees and students. The incumbent receives and directs callers through a computer-based centralized switchboard for the College.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A minimum of a 1-year Community College Certificate in Office Administration (or equivalent education and experience).
Up to one year of practical experience in a busy, high volume, customer service environment.
Other Required Qualifications:
- Ability to handle diverse inquiries and communicate clearly and effectively in English.
- Excellent customer service skills and pleasant telephone manner.
- Ability to handle high volume calls in a professional, courteous manner.
- Ability to react effectively and maintain composure in difficult or sensitive situations.
- Knowledge of switchboard procedures and practices.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office Suite, Outlook, Internet) and knowledge of standard office equipment.
- Well organized, detail-oriented and reliable.
- Focused and attentive with excellent recall.
- Calm, tactful and diplomatic.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Excellent interpersonal and listening skills.
Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements:
Computerized office environment. Sitting for extended periods required, with little opportunity to change position.
The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location or work temporarily from a remote location with reliable internet access, as approved by the College and in accordance with the college’s Telework Policy.
Salary & Terms
- Support Group: Pay Band C
- Hours per week: 35
- Start Rate: $22.24/hour
- Term: Immediately until March 2022 (with possibility of extension)
