Duties
Provides broad academic leadership to the diverse programs within the school. Current programs include: Paramedicine, Medical Laboratory Technologist, Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician, Health Information Management, Fitness and Health Promotion and Personal Support Worker (600 students approx.). Ensures the objectives of the programs are attained through effective management of teaching and learning processes and performance measures. Manages compliance with federal, provincial, and international regulatory bodies and legislation related to program delivery and development. Facilitates the on-going review of existing programs and the development of new programs to reflect market changes and the employment needs of industry. Conducts investigations of complaints from students and staff and initiates the problem-solving process. Establishes positive relationships with service sector, industry and business representatives and participates in College’s student recruitment and job placement initiatives. Develops effective communication strategies to ensure exemplary school operations. Operationally responsible for a budget which includes identifying problems, problem solving, developing solutions, and providing recommendations to the Dean and financial services. Leads the development and implementation of student success, student development and career development initiatives for the school.
Promotes a vision for Allied Health programs that supports future program growth (including changing technology).
Supports a collaborative leadership style with a commitment to enhancing the School of Health and Wellness within the local and regional community through program development, liaison with community partners, development of research opportunities and the successful accreditation of health care programs.
Serves on a number of internal (Deans’ Leadership Council, Academic Leadership Team, College Leadership Team, Biosafety Committee) and external committees (Provincial Heads of Health Science, Interprofessional Advisory Committee).
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A minimum of a Masters Degree in Sciences, Health Sciences and/or Education.
A minimum of nine-years of progressive leadership experience which includes teaching and curriculum design experience. Management experience will be preferred. Experience with accreditation and quality assurance processes.
Other Required Qualifications:
- Computer literacy
- Ability to manage the hiring process of full time and part time faculty and support staff, and establish faculty and staff workloads in accordance with the collective agreements
- Conflict resolution, negotiation, lobbying and advocacy skills
- Engage, motivate, and support faculty and staff to ensure open communication, positive change, and the highest levels of individual and team performance
- Knowledge of educational administration, management, budgeting, adult education, and curriculum development required
- Ability to provide sound academic management and support of people and resources including performance management, implementing administrative controls and processes, ensuring the efficient utilization of resources, leading ongoing program review and development
- Well-developed understanding of business and financial processes, including the management of a complex budget
- Problem solving skills
- Strategic and analytical thinking, planning and resource management
- Laboratory safety
- Health Sector experience an asset
Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements:
Normal office environment, which may also require some telework as needed and the ability to travel to other Campuses as required.
As this is a tri-campus position, the successful candidate may work from the Kingston, Brockville, or Cornwall Campus as a headquarters location. The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location.
Salary & Terms
- Administrative Group: Pay Band 13: $104,262 - $139,013 per annum. In addition to the salary and benefits, the position is eligible for pay for performance.
