Indigenous Artist Bio
Monika Rosen is a figurative and landscape artist based in Kingston, holding an MFA in Painting from the New York Academy of Art and a BFA Studio Arts Honours from Queen’s University. She has exhibited locally and abroad, with work acquired for the collections of 21C Museum Hotels (US) and the Daniels Corporation (Toronto). Rosen was awarded the Eric Fischl Fogo Island Arts Internship Residency in Newfoundland in 2022, and “Best in Show” for her piece “Center of Gravity” at the Kingston Square Foot Show 2024. Outside of her practice, Rosen teaches painting, illustrates for the medical industry, and sails the waters of Lake Ontario.
Artist Statement
Fascinated by the relationship between the psyche and the landscape, my paintings and monotypes navigate themes of transformation, healing, and the rhythms of an interconnected ecosystem.
