Together Over the Years: A Retrospective

August 18 – September 14, 2017

Together Over the Years

The Marianne van Silfhout Gallery is pleased to announce ‘Together Over the Years: A Retrospective’, an exhibit of selected works by regional artists Audrey and Alan Bain. The collection includes pieces created from 1961 to present day and includes drawings and paintings in a variety of mediums.

The exhibit will be on view at the Gallery located on St. Lawrence College’s Brockville campus from September 22 to October 27, 2017. A public vernissage will be held at the Gallery on Saturday, September 30 from 1:00 to 4:00pm.

Audrey Bain grew up with a paintbrush in her hand. As a teenager, she attended Nova Scotia College of Art on a two-year scholarship. She continued her interest in painting and the arts, and graduated with Honours from the Visual & Creative Arts - Fine Arts program at St. Lawrence College. Audrey served for ten years as Gallery Director at Cornwall Regional Art Gallery and continues an active schedule of painting and exhibitions with her husband, Alan. Together they operate Winddrift Studio and Gallery. Audrey is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists.

Alan Bain graduated from McGill with a B.Sc. in Geology and holds an M.A. from Boston University. Audrey introduced Alan to art and painting, which dovetailed happily with his previous experience as a geologist, outdoorsman, and teacher. Alan specializes in paintings from boreal Canada, landscapes which reflect the remoteness, peace, and solitude of Canada’s North, a land he loves. Alan is an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists, and is a Fellow of the Ottawa Watercolour Society.
