Following the success of last year’s donation of meals to Martha’s Table, second-year Culinary Management students will once again be supplying full-course meals for 100 of their clients, today, October 28, and again on December 16.

"We have embedded this event into the students’ curriculum so they must come up with the menus and ordering for the whole event," said Richard Hendy, Chef Professor and Culinary Programs Coordinator. "This authentic activity for the students provides them with a real feeling of belonging in the community."

The menu consists of:

  • Appetizer – Broccoli Cheddar Soup and Dinner Rolls
  • Entrée – Choice of Chicken or Eggplant Parmesan with Butternut Squash Marinara
  • Accompaniments – Apple Coleslaw, Yukon Gold and Sweet Potato Tianne, Butter Glazed Baby Carrots
  • Dessert – Ginger Molasses Cookies or Pumpkin Cream Cheese Brownies

"Thank you SLC students and staff for preparing and donating the beautiful meal for over 100 people," said Ronda Candy, Executive Director of Martha’s Table. "The food was truly appreciated by our guests; we heard many compliments about how awesome it all tasted and what a treat it was. Thank you for helping us serve the community. You really made a positive impact!"

Martha’s Table is a community center within the social welfare network of the City of Kingston which provides nutritious meals and snacks for over 275 vulnerable persons daily. For more information and to learn how you can volunteer visit www.marthastable.ca
