Learning Connections Conference 2023: Preparing for Registration

Learning Connections Conference

The LCC Planning Team wanted to share one last announcement before we open registration on April 17. We invite everyone to review the conference updates to learn more about the proposals, schedule, keynotes, and travel accommodations.

Proposals

We received over 80 submissions during our extended Call for Proposals which included 60 workshop proposals and 20 workshop ideas. These submissions were reviewed by the Program Development Sub-Committee and are presenters are expected to be contacted shortly to finalize some details.

At this time, we would like to thank everyone for submitting their proposals/ideas as this was the largest submission in LCC history.

LCC Schedule & Keynotes

Learning Connections Conference Keynote Speakers Dr. Sarah Rose Cavanaugh, Randell Adjei, and Peter Katz

This year’s LCC schedule was built using participant feedback from previous events so we would like to thank everyone for sharing their thoughts in our ongoing feedback surveys. The schedule of the two-day event is meant to provide a mixture of learning opportunities that feature different lengths (30/45/60mins), instructional modalities (virtual/in-person), session type (group discussion, experiential, info session) and session structure (concurrent session/keynote/networking).

As a result, the event will feature 3 keynotes, 7 concurrent sessions timeslots, networking lunch, and employee awards celebration.

Bus Schedule

The LCC will bring together members from our tri-campus communities (Brockville/Cornwall/Kingston) and SLC offices (Sharbot Lake/Ottawa) together on Kingston campus on May 17 for a full day of learning.

To promote our ongoing commitment to sustainable practices, we have enlisted the help of colleagues at McCoy Bus to coordinate travel accommodations for participants from Cornwall/Brockville campuses. The bus trip will enable participants to join colleagues in Kingston and reconnect on the road as they compete for a few prizes during their travels!

All participants will be given an option to “register for the bus” during the registration process for LCC. Individuals traveling from Sharbot Lake or Ottawa offices are asked to coordinate their travels plans with their managers.

Please note that employees who choose to travel using their own vehicle will not be reimbursed by the LCC budget.

LCC Theme: Relate - “Learning through Connections”

This year, LCC is all about how we relate to one another, to our students, and to our world at large. Relating is an action involving sharing, connecting, and being open to learning from what other people have to say or have experienced. This year’s conference will have as much personal relevance as professional, as we come together as a community to grow, learn, be entertained, and inspired.
