Submitted by Marie-Line Jobin, Coordinator and Professor, Honours Bachelor of Behavioural Psychology

In June 2025 I participated in a teaching and partnership-building initiative at Universidad Anáhuac Mayab (UAM) in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico. This opportunity was supported through the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada, and UAM’s International Visiting Professor Program.

The International Visiting Professor Program brought together five educators from the United States, Canada, Italy, and Chile, each specializing in areas such as international business, psychology, communication, finance, and entrepreneurship. The inclusion of this diverse group of educators enriched the academic environment and created meaningful opportunities for intercultural exchange and dialogue.

As part of the program, I delivered a condensed undergraduate course on Executive Profile in Human Leadership to a group of 21 students from diverse academic disciplines. The course emphasized interactive learning and global perspectives, encouraging participants to explore leadership frameworks within diverse cultural and organizational contexts. This experience aligned with UAM’s goal of fostering multicultural learning environments and promoting international engagement on campus.

In addition to classroom teaching, I collaborated with UAM faculty on co-teaching strategies, content development, and partnership-building activities. These efforts supported both institutions’ shared commitment to career-focused, globally informed programming and long-term academic collaboration.

During the visit, I also presented at an International Connection Journey event hosted by UAM, delivering a session titled “Cultivating Psychological Flexibility for Leadership and Transformative Teaching” to an audience of over 150 full-time professors, academic directors, and institutional leaders. The presentation contributed to intercultural dialogue and further strengthened the academic connection between SLC and UAM.

This experience highlights the value of international academic collaboration by fostering shared learning, expanding global perspectives, and building meaningful connections across borders.
