The Technology and Trades department was proud to host participants from KEYS Job Centre's Pre-Apprenticeship Program during two successful “Try a Trade” Bootcamp sessions held on June 9 and June 12.
This initiative offered KEYS pre-apprentices the chance to explore skilled trades through immersive, hands-on experiences in both the Electrical and Welding disciplines. The sessions were fully supported by our dedicated technical staff as well as faculty members, utilizing our lab facilities to ensure a realistic and engaging introduction to the trades.
The goal of the bootcamp was to spark interest in skilled trades careers by giving participants a true sense of what the work involves. From wiring circuits to fusing metal, participants had the opportunity to work directly with tools and techniques under the guidance of experienced professionals.
These sessions were made possible through a continued partnership with KEYS Job Centre, a local organization committed to connecting individuals with employment and training opportunities.
Thank you to everyone involved in making this event a success, including our instructors, lab technicians, and support staff, for fostering a welcoming and educational environment. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with KEYS and supporting the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
