Exposure to COVID-19 Process

What to do if you think you have been exposed to COVID-19

If you are ill or have come into contact with someone who is a confirmed case:

Stay home.

  • Stay home if you are ill or have come into contact with someone who is a confirmed case. Do not come on campus or attend an off-campus activity.
  • Stay home if you are waiting for COVID-19 test results, have COVID-19 symptoms, or are at risk of contracting COVID-19.

Take the COVID-19 Self Assessment.

Find a testing location.

Follow the College's Exposure to COVID-19 Process.

  • If you suspect you are ill with COVID-19 or have been exposed to COVID-19 follow the appropriate St. Lawrence College's Exposure to COVID-19 Process below for students, employees, and contractors.
  • The College has procedures in place to manage each of the identified situations below, however, it is your responsibility to follow the steps outlined to reduce the possibility of spreading the virus.

Students

If you suspect you are ill with COVID-19 or have been exposed to COVID-19 follow the processes below: 

  • Go directly home and avoid public transportation. 
  • If you do not drive or are part of a carpool:  
    • Call a family member if you are currently living with them.
    • If no transportation is available, please contact SLC campus security at 613.544.5400 ext. 5555 to arrange for taxi transportation on your behalf. SLC campus security will notify the taxi company that you require transportation and that special precautions are to be taken.
  • Upon arrival home, take the Government COVID-19 Self-assessment and follow the recommendations based on the answers that you provided. 
  • If you have been directed to get tested and to self-isolate, refer to the Government of Ontario COVID-19 tests and testing locations. This webpage contains information regarding what you need to know before, during, and after a test.
  • Public Health will follow up if your test is positive.
  • If you are contacted by Public Health relating to a COVID-19 test result or contact tracing, they will provide instructions, information, and COVID-19 related health teaching. The Campus Health Centre can support you with any additional health-related inquiries at 613.544.5400 ext. 1136 or HealthCentreK@sl.on.ca.
  • Immediately return to residence and stay in your room with no guest access.
  • Notify the residence front desk and wait for further instructions from Residence Management.
  • Upon arrival to residence, take the Government COVID-19 Self-assessment and follow the recommendations based on the answers that you provided. 
  • If you have been directed to get tested and to self-isolate, refer to the Government of Ontario COVID-19 tests and testing locations. This webpage contains information regarding what you need to know before, during, and after a test.
  • Public Health will follow up if your test is positive.
  • If you are contacted by Public Health relating to a COVID-19 test result or contact tracing, they will provide instructions, information, and COVID-19 related health teaching.   • Do not come to the college or attend your work placement.

Employees and Contractors

If you suspect you are ill with COVID-19 or have been exposed to COVID-19 follow the processes below: 

  • Go directly home and avoid public transportation. 
  • If you do not drive or are part of a carpool:

    • If no transportation is available, please contact SLC campus security at 613.544.5400 ext. 5555 to arrange for taxi transportation on your behalf. SLC campus security will notify the taxi company that you require transportation and that special precautions are to be taken.
  • Immediately notify your manager, Associate Dean, or Dean when you arrive home.
  • Upon arrival home, take the Government COVID-19 Self-assessment and follow the recommendations based on the answers that you provided.

  • If you are instructed to be tested or to self-isolate, immediately contact Human Resources at HRInfo@sl.on.ca.
  • Public Health will follow up if your test is positive.
  • Notify Human Resources of your test results.
  • Do not go to the college campuses or SLC Business locations.
  • Immediately notify your manager, Associate Dean, or Dean.
  • Take the Government COVID-19 Self-assessment and follow the recommendations based on the answers that you provided.

  • If you are instructed to be tested or to self-isolate, immediately contact Human Resources at HRInfo@sl.on.ca.
  • Public Health will follow up if your test is positive.
  • Notify Human Resources of your test results.
  • Go directly home and avoid public transportation. 
  • Immediately notify your SLC contact. 
  • Take the Government COVID-19 Self-assessment and follow the recommendations based on the answers that you provided.

  • Do not go to the college campuses or SLC business locations.
  • Immediately notify your SLC contact.
