POSITION SUMMARY

The Student Paramedic Lab Monitor on the Cornwall Campus reports to Department Manager, and under the guidance of the designate, will work up to 11-hours per week (may include evenings and/or weekends) for no more than 14-weeks. The position assists the department with a variety of functions and services, including monitoring and providing assistance to those who use the facilities. This student will also be required to perform event support as a part of the event planning and preparing. The student incumbent is a visible front-line actor with a positive and helpful attitude in order to meet the goal of providing students with the best possible college experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as first and last point of contact and support for all users and visitors, performing excellent customer service, handling requests or concerns, and answering questions whether by phone, email, or in person. 
  • Assists with administrative-related and logistic tasks, including updating or entering data into specific systems, scheduling, and programming, preparing reports when required. 
  • Assists the faculty members and technical support staff with inventory management and with lab prep activities  
  • Basic studio maintenance (clean-up/disposal of supplies). 
  • Assisting faculty members and technical support staff with inventory management and with lab prep activities  
  • Supervising students during practice labs  
  • Actively participate and staff committees as necessary and appropriate. 
  • Assist in dealing with occasional disrespectful users through escalating conflict to department manager / designate. 
  • Performs other miscellaneous, related duties as assigned by the designate, with occasional duties specific to special functions (e.g., orientation or open house events, awards dinners). 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Other Required Qualifications:

  • Communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Time management and attention to detail. 
  • Adaptable with the ability to problem solve. 
  • Ability to effectively work independently with instruction, and collaboratively with a team.  
  • Understanding of standard computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Teams, & Email). 

Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements: 

The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location.

Salary & Terms

  • Start Rate: $17.60/hour, (plus 6% in lieu of vacation)
  • Hours per week: 11.00

Terms of Employment:

  • Must be currently enrolled in Full-Time studies at St. Lawrence College OR returning to Full-Time studies in the immediate upcoming semester.
  • Must be in good academic standing for full duration of employment.
