Business Fundamentals

The Business Fundamentals program provides students with a broad and exploratory business education. The program will cover business basics such as accounting, marketing, human resources, business mathematics, and business communications. This program can supplement previous post-secondary education to allow students to enter a wide variety of entry level business positions. Additionally this program can allow student to explore further business education and can apply for advanced standing into the second year of the Business, Marketing, and Human Resources programs at the College.

 *NOTE: You can start this program in October and January. Applicants should apply at as a Business Fundamentals (0973) student. All students will start in this program and transition into the Business program area of their choice. Students who start in October or January complete their first year of the program at the end of June or July and then begin second year in September.

    Admission Requirements

    Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with the majority of Grade 11 and 12 courses at the C, U or M level including the following prerequisites:

    • Grade 12 English at the C or U level
    • Grade 11 Math at the C, U or M level

    Being forced into a mid-life career change, SLC proved to be the best possible choice I could have made.  Two years after graduating from the business program I am earning more than many MBA's....the value of a high GPA from SLC is not to be underestimated.

    Programs at St. Lawrence College are delivered using a variety of instruction modes. Courses may be offered in the classroom or lab, entirely online, or in a hybrid mode which combines classroom sessions with online learning activities. Program delivery can be run weekdays, weekends or evenings. Upon registration, each full-time student is provided a St. Lawrence College email account which is used to communicate important information about program or course events.

    Advanced Standing

    High school students with a minimum grade of 75% in Grade 12 M level accounting (BAT4M) are eligible to receive advanced standing in St. Lawrence College Introductory Accounting, ACCT 1. Once you have been accepted into your college program, contact your program coordinator for details.
