St. Lawrence College Receives Largest Donation in its History

Students, staff and the Board of Directors of the St. Lawrence College Foundation are celebrating the largest philanthropic gift in the College’s history.

St. Lawrence has received a $3 million gift from the Britton Smith Foundation in support of the College’s fundraising campaign.

The newly-unveiled “Uncommon Campaign” will raise $11.5 million over five years towards construction of a new Student Life and Innovation Centre, a new behavioural research centre and upgraded health care simulation labs on all three campuses.

Contributions will also support student financial assistance and the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment in Cornwall, Brockville and Kingston.

Launched yesterday, the Uncommon Campaign has already reached more than 50 per cent of its goal.

“St. Lawrence College has a tremendous impact on our community, and I am very happy to support the College in its efforts to help the youth in our region build a brighter future.” A. Britton Smith

“This is the largest contribution in the history of St. Lawrence College and we are deeply grateful to Mr. Smith for recognizing the importance of our students and supporting us with this extremely generous contribution.”  Glenn Vollebregt, President and CEO, St. Lawrence College

“Our campaign is off to a fantastic start thanks to Mr. Smith and the generosity of our community.” Bonnie Ruest, Chair, St. Lawrence College Foundation.
