Diana Laura Castillo Verdejo, a student in Autism and Behavioural Science (AUBS) brings with her a strong academic background and a passion for supporting children and families. She holds a bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology from Universidad de las Américas Puebla in Mexico and gained valuable experience working with a clinical consultation team of psychologists during her undergraduate studies and following her graduation. Diana was also involved in a research project on vengeful tendencies, which was later published in the National Library of Medicine.
While exploring her next academic steps, Diana attended a recruitment fair in Mexico City where she met representatives from SLC. She credits the SLC Latino America team with helping her identify a program that aligned with her education and career goals. Although not being able to visit campuses in person posed a challenge, the time and personalized support the team provided helped her feel confident in choosing SLC.
Since arriving at SLC, Diana has received individualized support through Meaghen Shaver, Program Coordinator, who connected her with key resources and assisted her in securing a placement with Stride Academy, where she further developed her skills while working alongside several SLC alumni.
Diana also works on campus with the Alumni and Development team, a role she greatly enjoys. She credits Career Services with helping her secure the position and with supporting her in tailoring her résumé and cover letters. Reflecting on her impact, Liz Gorman, Director, Alumni and Development, shared that Diana has been a welcome addition to the team—hard‑working, resourceful, and a pleasure to work with.
Diana will graduate this spring and is considering continuing at SLC in the Communicative Disorders Assistant program this fall or entering the workforce. With her dedication, curiosity, and commitment to supporting others, Diana is well positioned to make a meaningful impact and do great things in the years ahead.
