SLC is proud to recognize the outstanding achievement of Charlotte May, a student who was recently featured on the widely respected Behaviour Speak Podcast following her poster presentation at the Ontario Association for Behaviour Analysis (ONTABA) Conference.
Charlotte was invited to share her work as part of podcast, a platform with listeners across North America and beyond. The episode highlights emerging scholars whose research reflects “the next wave of thinking in our field,” showcasing innovative and impactful contributions to behaviour analysis.
Charlotte’s segment focused on her work related to teaching safety skills, contributing to a broader conversation on advancing applied practices in meaningful and practical ways. Her participation reflects not only strong academic preparation, but also exceptional professionalism and communication skills.
Representing both herself and SLC, Charlotte demonstrated the ability to clearly articulate complex behavioural concepts to a professional audience, an essential competency for emerging practitioners and researchers.
This achievement underscores the value of experiential learning opportunities, particularly conference participation. Engaging in professional conferences allows students to disseminate research, receive feedback from experts, and build networks within the field. Opportunities such as ONTABA provide a critical bridge between academic training and professional practice, reinforcing the applied and collaborative nature of behaviour analysis.
Charlotte’s success highlights the impact of supporting student scholarship beyond the classroom. Her contribution exemplifies the high standard of student research and professional development fostered at St. Lawrence College.
