SLC recently welcomed 90 participants to the 2026 Synapse Nursing Symposium on the Brockville campus, bringing together students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners for a day of collaboration and knowledge sharing. Guided by the theme, Innovation in Nursing Education: Advancing Lifelong Learning, the symposium featured 15 oral and 8 poster presentations showcasing a diverse range of research and practice.
Sessions explored emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and virtual reality, alongside innovative teaching approaches and student learning models. Presenters also addressed important topics including Indigenous partnership and reconciliation, equity and anti-Black racism in nursing, long-term care, and improving patient outcomes.
Poster sessions highlighted applied research on areas such as patient safety, inclusive care, and the use of virtual reality in education and pain management. Keynote speakers Dr. Marian Luctkar-Flude and Dr. Jane Tyerman shared insights on simulation and innovation in nursing education, inspiring continued advancement in teaching and practice.
