SLC faculty Angela Muis has co-authored a new international research study, Caregivers' Experiences of Assessment and Treatment for Their Child with Childhood Apraxia of Speech, published recently in the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology.
The study was completed in collaboration with researchers from the University of Sydney, Hofstra University, NYU, Marquette University, and the University of Vermont, offering a global perspective on caregiver experiences in accessing assessment and treatment for Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS).
This research has already gained international attention. Findings were presented as posters at both the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Convention in the U.S. and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) Conference in the U.K. Angela will also present the work at the Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) Conference this May, alongside co-researcher Donna Thomas from the University of Sydney.
Angela teaches in SLC’s Communicative Disorders Assistant program and contributes to national professional initiatives through her involvement with the SAC Communication Health Assistant Advisory Group. She is also a past recipient of the SAC Communication Health Assistant Award of Excellence.
