Creating a seamless student experience is the goal behind the "One College/One Student" project, co-sponsored by Shelley Aylesworth-Spink, VP International Education, and Michael Cooke, VP Student Affairs, and will integrate services, communication, and support for all students, both domestic and international. A report will be presented to the College Executive Team in April 2022.
"The project will strengthen collaboration between Student Affairs and the International department and is rooted in the commitments articulated in SLC in Five, SLC’s Global Engagement Strategy, and SLC’s Student Affairs Plan," according to Shelley.
The growth in international enrolment over the last number of years offers the College a unique opportunity to redesign the services we provide students. The needs of our present and future students are much more diverse and complex. "One College/One Student" will bring together key stakeholders to examine where a harmonized approach makes sense to provide all students with a holistic student experience.
Five action planning groups have been created with participation from both divisions in each group, including:
- Student Supports
- Student Engagement
- Student Services
- Information Systems and Communication
Each action planning group has a mandate to develop recommendations designed to:
- Advance and entrench that collaboration tri-campus
- Maximize our ability to meet the needs of our student population as articulated in the College’s five-year enrolment plan
- Support/advance the objectives of our Strategic Enrolment Management process
"This project is timely and aligns well with various, and related efforts underway," Michael said. "For instance, the College’s enrolment plan is targeting an increase in international student enrolment from 20% to 40% tri-campus while SLC continues its work towards key commitments to Belonging and to creating a college that is truly global in nature."
