Lindsay Brant Receives Prestigious Appointment

Lindsay Brant
Dr. Lindsay Brant, Director, Indigenous Initiatives

Written by SLC Communications

As we recognize National Indigenous History Month, St. Lawrence College is proud to share that Dr. Lindsay Brant, SLC’s Director of Indigenous Initiatives, has been appointed Invited Scholar and Pedagogy of Peace (PoP) Nexus Leader at the Queen’s Institute for Educational Scholarship and Research (QIESR). This distinguished appointment reflects Lindsay’s leadership and the growing impact of Indigenous-led approaches to teaching, learning, and research.

Lindsay will lead the Pedagogy of Peace Nexus, an interdisciplinary research community grounded in Indigenous knowledge systems and justice-centered approaches. The Nexus brings together scholars, students, and community partners to explore how peace is learned, practiced, and sustained in the context of educational and environmental change, policy transitions, leadership praxis, programmatic and partnership evaluation, and Indigenous sovereignty. The group will launch its first session on June 25, 2026, at 2:30pm and will meet regularly via Teams. Those interested in participating are encouraged to connect at qiesr@queensu.ca

Reflecting on this opportunity, Lindsay shares, “I'm looking forward to contributing to advancing and shaping educational scholarship at Queen's University and St. Lawrence College, and to further expanding and strengthening cross-institutional collaboration between our two educational communities and beyond!”

This appointment highlights not only Lindsay’s expertise and vision, but also SLC’s ongoing commitment to Indigenous education, collaboration, and meaningful change.

QIESR represents a meaningful shift in how educational work is understood—elevating teaching and learning as scholarly practices that shape curriculum, connects disciplines, and contributes to broader conversations within and beyond institutions. Through QIESR, scholars are supported to develop research, collaborate, and lead innovative projects. SLC faculty, staff, and students are invited to get involved by connecting with Dr. Denise Stockley, Director and Dr. Susan Docherty-Skippen, Educational Researcher and Consultant with QIESR.
