As we celebrate IT Professionals Day, we’re proud to spotlight HopNGo, a locally developed on-demand ride service that’s transforming urban mobility in Kingston—and doing so with the help of talented alumni from our college community.
Founded in Kingston and built by Kingstonians for Kingstonians, HopNGo is more than just a transportation app. It’s a community-driven initiative that values affordability, accessibility, and sustainability. The platform connects residents with licensed local drivers, offering a safe, reliable, and eco-conscious way to get around town.
At the heart of HopNGo’s success are Jithin Jibi, a graduate of the Computer Programming and Analysis program, and Sienth Mihiran, who completed the Advanced Diploma in Computer Science. These two alumni co-founded HopNGo, combining their technical expertise and entrepreneurial spirit to create a platform that meets the unique needs of their community.
Together, they’ve built and maintained the app’s infrastructure, ensuring secure payments, real-time ride tracking, and seamless user experiences. One developer shared that working at HopNGo has been “an opportunity to write clean, scalable code while collaborating with a talented team to solve real-world problems.”
HopNGo’s mission aligns closely with the values we instill in our students: community impact, technological innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit. By choosing HopNGo, users not only enjoy a modern transportation solution but also support a business that reinvests in the local economy and provides fair compensation to drivers.
As we honour IT Professionals Day, we celebrate the alumni who are driving this success—literally and figuratively. Their work at HopNGo exemplifies how technical skills, community values, and innovation can come together to create meaningful change.
