Submitted by the Student Rights and Responsibilities team

SLC and the Student Rights and Responsibilities team (SRRO) is proud to participate in the fourth annual Consent Awareness Week, a national initiative dedicated to promoting safer communities by raising awareness of sexual violence and the importance of consent. Taking place from September 15-19, 2025, this year’s week falls within a period known as the “red zone”, the time between orientation and Halloween when students, especially women and gender-diverse learners, face an increased risk of campus sexual violence.

At SLC, we believe that fostering a culture of consent is a shared responsibility and we’re inviting all students and employees to get involved in meaningful ways throughout the week.

It Takes All of Us: Understanding the principles of consent and respect builds stronger, safer campus communities. It Takes All of Us is a free, self-paced online training module covering key topics like consent, bystander intervention, and supporting survivors. This training is a powerful way to deepen your understanding and take action against sexual and gender-based violence. Complete the training to earn Surge Points and a special badge on URSLC! Click here to start.

Attend an event: Join us for one of the many consent-related community events. From movie screenings to swing dancing, we have great opportunities to meet peers while learning about healthy relationships and consent. Check out the Consent Awareness Week event on URSLC for details.

Explore support resources: Visit the SRRO’s Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Prevention webpage to review information about consent, healthy relationships, tips on how to respond to disclosures of sexual violence, and the services available to support survivors in our community.
