I recently had the opportunity to attend the Upper Bound AI Conference in Edmonton, one of Canada’s leading events focused on artificial intelligence, innovation, and emerging technologies. My participation was supported through a talent bursary provided by the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii).
The conference brought together researchers, educators, startups, industry leaders, and policymakers from across the country to discuss the rapidly evolving role of AI across multiple sectors. Throughout the event, I attended sessions and engaged in conversations focused on applied AI, workforce development, entrepreneurship, and the growing importance of AI literacy in education.
As a faculty member, I believe it is important to remain connected to emerging technologies and broader industry conversations so that we can better support students as they prepare for an increasingly AI-driven world. Experiences like Upper Bound help strengthen connections between post-secondary education, industry, and innovation ecosystems while creating opportunities to explore future partnerships, applied research, and student engagement initiatives.
I look forward to continuing to bring these insights and conversations back into the classroom and supporting students as they navigate the opportunities and challenges created by artificial intelligence.
