Interview with EDI + Belonging Task Force Member Dr. Muhammad Owais Aziz
Dr. Muhammad Owais Aziz (he/him) is Professor of Health Sciences at St. Lawrence College, Cornwall. He is also a member of the College’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) + Belonging Task Force. This is the third in a series of interviews profiling Task Force members who are considered change agents of the College. Change agents are individuals or groups that undertake the task of initiating and managing change in an organization.  
Introducing LCC2021 Keynote Speaker Sheila Watt-Cloutier
We are pleased to announce that we will be welcoming Sheila Watt-Cloutier as a keynote speaker for LCC2021! Sheila’s work has touched upon the intersectionality of climate change, foreign policy, the economy, and global health. She utilizes her Indigenous teachings to provide a more holistic understanding of sustainability and personal well-being by elevating global issues to a more personal level.
SLC Research to be Presented at Canadian and American Psychology Conventions
SLC Honours Bachelor of Behavioural Psychology professor, Marie-Line Jobin, and fourth-year student, Taylor Liggett, will be presenting their research at both the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) 82nd Annual Convention, being held virtually from June 7-25, 2021, as well as at the American Psychological Association (APA) virtual convention, August 12-15, 2021. The research focuses on exploring students' perceptions of their engagement and sense of belonging and ways to foster both during alternative teaching/virtual learning.
SLC students pitch at Mayor’s Innovation Challenge Showcase at the City of Kingston
A student team project addressing period poverty in local Indigenous communities was shortlisted to pitch their innovation idea at The Mayor’s Innovation Challenge Showcase for the City of Kingston on Friday, March 26, 2021, along with seven other teams.
Alumna Dr. Robyne Hanley-Dafoe Releases New Book on Resiliency
Dr. Robyne Hanley-Dafoe graduated from Behavioural Science Technology in 2000 and is now a multi-award-winning education and psychology instructor and resiliency expert. In her book Calm Within the Storm, she maps out a kinder approach to taking on the challenges of life and developing authentic self-alignment and balance.
