During the recent 15th annual SLC Accounting Case Competition, third year students from the Business Administration – Accounting program in Kingston tested their critical thinking skills. This event was sponsored by CPA Ontario.
During the competition, participants were tasked with analyzing an accounting case study and to present their findings to a panel of judges comprised of accounting professionals. This event contributes to the on-going experiential learning of our students and reinforces real-world skills that are necessary for success in an accounting career. The top two teams will represent SLC in this year’s Ontario College Accounting Case Competition at Humber College.

1st place: Patrick Marshall, Kyle Sproule, and Shannon Pamplin
2nd place: Zach Rogers, Lindsay Locklin, and Sierra Griffin
3rd place: Donna-Marie Jessome, Cailyn Meldrum

This event forces students out of their comfort zone so they realize they can thrive in a stressful situation and accomplish amazing results. Year after year, our judges are amazed by the accomplishments and talent of our students. It also is an event that showcases what a great community and network we have of students, faculty, graduates, and employers. The event brings everyone together. Many of our graduates have commented that the accounting competition was one of the highlights in the Business Administration – Accounting program.
